DIY: Christmas Gifts

While Mike was away for a week in Sweden I got the bright idea to do a couple fun Pinterest projects with Rylee to keep us both busy! I found a super cute Grandparent's gift idea to make handprint calendars as a Christmas gift. It didn't look too hard but with a two year old you never know what you're going to get. After going through LOTS of paper, paint, paper towels, paper plates (to put the paint on), and patience we came up with our finished project x3 (Rylee had three sets of grandparents). I LOVE how it turned out and each calendar is a little different which makes it even better. Rylee made the handprints with my help (of course) and after it dried I added some details to each month. I found a free 2015 calendar to print, glued the pages together, and then took it to Office Max where I had them laminate the first page (cover) and bind it all together for just $4 each! I'm super happy with the final product and can't wait to see our parents open their special gift from Rylee!!

I also decided to make Rylee's daddy a special ornament from Rylee. I usually get him an ornament each year but I thought this would be more special and I always love seeing my old handmade ornaments hanging on my parent's tree! It was super cheap (0.29 to be exact). I used popsicle sticks I already had (4), string (I already had), paint (I already had), and printed a picture of Rylee from Walgreens. A little paint and hot glue and all done! Easiest and quickest project ever!! I know Mike will love it and I can't wait to hang it on our Christmas tree!!
